Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has made a bold return to Nigeria after a three-month stay abroad, expressing confidence in her enduring influence within the entertainment industry. Sharing photos from her flight, she remarked, "Three months out of state, yet the echo of my name stayed loud. 


Be like algorithm sef miss me. E ki ile eyin temi. Came back fully Gingerrrd." This statement underscores her belief in her sustained relevance and the impact of her absence on her audience.



Upon her arrival, Toriola was warmly welcomed by her supporters, affectionately known as the "ginger squad," including fellow actresses Bolaji Ogunmola, Kiekie, and Bisola Aiyeola. They greeted her at the airport with a flower bouquet, accompanied by a group of dancers and singers, celebrating her return.


This comeback follows a period of public scrutiny earlier this year, when Toriola found herself at the center of a controversy involving veteran actor Afeez Owo. The dispute began after Owo criticized one of Toriola's movie roles during an interview. Dissatisfied with his remarks, Toriola openly called him out, leading to heated reactions across social media. 



The backlash was intense, with many netizens siding with Owo, insisting his critique was fair, while Toriola faced a barrage of online attacks. The situation escalated to the point where Toriola was hospitalized due to the stress and emotional toll of the incident. She later expressed regret over her response to Owo, assuring fans she would handle things differently in the future. 



Despite the controversy, Toriola's career continues to thrive. She recently starred in the film Queen Lateefah, which became the highest-grossing Nigerian film of 2024, grossing ₦365 million at the box office. The film's success further solidifies her position in Nollywood.
