Popular Nollywood actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has once again found herself at the center of online drama after blasting a troll who mocked her personal life. In a fiery Instagram video, the outspoken actress condemned how people feel entitled to attack celebrities unprovoked, especially with age-shaming, marriage-shaming, and even using their past relationships as a weapon.
“Is it okay for someone to come at you unprovoked? Marriage shame you, child shame you… just like that? Because you are a so-called celebrity. I’ve always said this. I’m not a celebrity, you know. I am human just like you,” she declared.
Nkechi revealed that the troll tried to shame her for being unmarried and even dragged her past failed relationship with politician Opeyemi Falegan, which had ended publicly in a messy social media battle. The actress, who has never shied away from speaking her truth, admitted she responded directly to the troll in the DM, giving them a taste of their own medicine. “You give me, I give you, then everybody go dey okay. Then you now run kitikiti-katakata, you were crying because of just one line. But you, you write plenty now. Like I said, I’m not a celebrity. You bring rubbish to me, I give you rubbish back,” she fired.
This outburst is just one in a long list of Nkechi Blessing’s public controversies. The actress has built a reputation for her fearless personality and refusal to be intimidated by online critics. Not long ago, she trended over her viral gym photo, where a seemingly harmless fitness picture sparked wild reactions on social media, with some trolls body-shaming her while others accused her of seeking unnecessary attention. Nkechi, true to her style, responded without apology, insisting she owes no one perfection and that her body is hers to flaunt.
Her fiery temper has also played out during her breakup saga with Falegan. Both parties exchanged heavy words online, with Nkechi admitting she poured out her emotions because she had nothing to hide. Trolls have since used that failed relationship to taunt her, especially about not being married despite her success in Nollywood.
But if there is one thing consistent about Nkechi Blessing, it is that she refuses to be silenced. She sees herself as a strong woman standing up against cyberbullying and societal pressure to define women by marriage or children.
