“Truth Cannot Be Silenced"! Nigerian Gospel Singers Mourn Charlie Kirk as ‘True Soldier of Christ

The Nigerian gospel music community is deeply shaken following the tragic death of US conservative activist and media figure Charlie Kirk, 31, who was fatally shot on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, during a public event held at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. According to authorities, the gunfire was a targeted assault, possibly fired from the roof of a nearby building — a development that has led to widespread condemnation and a large‐scale manhunt for the shooter. Reports confirm that Kirk was hit in the neck and later pronounced dead at a hospital. In Nigeria, prominent gospel singers have taken to social media to mourn Kirk’s death. Nathaniel Bassey offered a brief but heartfelt tribute via Instagram: > “Pained. Rest in the Lord, Charlie Kirk.” Victoria Orenze followed with a more impassioned message, invoking Christian conviction and spiritual resolve in the face of tragedy. She wrote: > “Truth cannot be killed! Truth cannot be silenced! Truth cannot be stopped.” She also prayed for Kirk’s wife and children, saying they are “wrapped by the comfort of the Holy Ghost,” and reminded believers that “we are clearly in the last days.” Social media users also weighed in. Several comments reflected shock, sympathy, or unease. One user posted, “Rest in perfect peace.” Another said, “God abeg,” while others questioned what Kirk stood for or remarked on his controversial remarks. Meanwhile, in the U.S., the incident is being called by Utah’s governor a political assassination, and many view it as part of a rising trend of political violence. Law enforcement agencies have launched investigations, and the FBI is monitoring developments.
