Nigerian singer Kizz Daniel has come forward to dismiss claims that a court order froze his bank accounts over an alleged contract breach linked to a 2022 Berlin concert.
The rumours suggested the singer failed to appear at the Afrobeats Meets Berlin show in September 2022 despite reportedly receiving partial payment in advance.
Responding to the allegations on Wednesday, Kizz Daniel’s management described them as “false, misleading, and defamatory.”
The statement clarified that the promoter, Kejuro Media & Entertainment, was entirely responsible for the cancellation of the event. According to the singer’s team, Kizz Daniel had a properly signed performance agreement with the organisers.
“The promoter failed to meet fundamental obligations, including securing visas and flights for the artiste and his team, which led to the event being cancelled,” the management said.
“It has come to our attention that a false and malicious narrative is being circulated with the sole aim of discrediting our artiste, Oluwatobiloba Daniel Anidugbe, professionally known as Kizz Daniel, and undermining his forthcoming Europe tour,” the statement added.
The management emphasised that Kizz Daniel is a dedicated professional who honours his agreements and consistently works to ensure fans worldwide enjoy his music.
“By virtue of the duly executed performance agreement dated 27th July 2022, we were engaged to perform at the Afrobeats Meets Berlin concert on 24th September 2022. The promoter, Kejuro Media & Entertainment, failed to fulfil key obligations under the agreement, including arranging visas and flights for our artiste and his team,” it continued.
When the promoter later attempted to reschedule the concert to 8th April 2023, Kizz Daniel’s team stated that they were open to performing only under revised commercial terms, with the initial deposit remaining non-refundable as per the contract.
“We made it clear that any rescheduling, occasioned by the promoter’s breach, could only proceed on fresh commercial terms and would not affect the deposit paid,” the statement said.
The management also raised concerns about the promoter’s credibility, noting that other contracted artistes, including Teni and Diamond Platnumz, reportedly never performed, and that all social media accounts linked to the festival have “mysteriously vanished.”
Additionally, the singer’s team accused the promoter of attempting to sabotage Kizz Daniel’s upcoming Europe tour by sending threatening messages to his new tour promoters.
“Even if such claims existed, they would only highlight the promoter’s malicious attempt to damage our business reputation. If the promoter claims we were in breach, we challenge him to provide evidence of visas and flights booked for September 24th, 2022,” the statement concluded.
The management reassured fans: “Kizz Daniel remains committed to his fans across Europe and the world, and preparations for the Europe tour continue in earnest.”
