Nigerian socialite Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has responded to public criticism following his recent health scare and comments about Nigeria's healthcare system. In a recent Instagram post, he shared a throwback photo with his family and declared himself

"the most influential person in this country,"

attributing his trending status to his illness. He also celebrated his first 32 hours without smoking or drinking alcohol in over a decade, expressing pride in his achievement and stating that his late mother would be proud of him .

Earlier, Cubana Chief Priest had lamented the state of healthcare in Nigeria, describing it as a "joke."

He recounted his experience at a hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, where he waited over an hour without being attended to by a doctor.

He later visited another facility in Lekki, where he had to fill out an extensive online form before receiving treatment for typhoid and malaria. Frustrated by the situation, he announced plans to seek proper medical care abroad, particularly in the United Kingdom .

His comments have sparked a range of reactions online. Some Nigerians agree with his assessment of the healthcare system, while others criticize him for seeking treatment abroad instead of investing in local healthcare infrastructure.

One user questioned why he couldn't advise his political connections to improve healthcare services, while another pointed out that even in the UK, the National Health Service faces challenges .

In response to the backlash, Cubana Chief Priest has continued to assert his influence and defend his actions, maintaining that his experiences reflect broader issues within the country's healthcare system.
