Nigerian stand-up comedian Otaghware Otas Onodjayeke, better known by his stage name Igosave, has expressed concern over the rising trend of Nigerian youths abandoning legitimate career pursuits in favor of quick-money rituals and dubious schemes. Taking to social media, the Delta State-born humorist lamented that “it’s so sad most of our youths no longer search for jobs or career paths to become rich. They just find the latest babalawo,” a remark that underscores the moral and economic struggles of today’s young generation.

Igosave, who has been a constant voice in Nigerian comedy for more than two decades, is not new to speaking out on social issues through his art and public commentary. He started comedy professionally in the early 2000s and became known for his sharp wit, observational humor, and ability to blend social criticism with laughter. Over the years, he has headlined shows across Nigeria and abroad, building a reputation as one of the comedians who use the stage not just for entertainment but also as a platform for education and enlightenment.

In his recent statement, the comedian highlighted the dangers of chasing “easy money” through ritual practices and fraudulent activities. He reminded young Nigerians that quick shortcuts often come with painful consequences, both legally and spiritually. His words reflect the frustration many entertainers feel watching the younger generation prioritize wealth over diligence, creativity, and perseverance.

Igosave’s message adds to the growing voices of Nigerian celebrities urging youths to embrace patience, hard work, and legitimate enterprise. With his influence and credibility in the entertainment industry, his reminder serves as both a warning and an encouragement: that true success comes not from the desperate search for shortcuts, but from dedication, resilience, and the pursuit of real skills.
