Music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs and former U.S. President Donald Trump may have more in common than fame, according to Diddy’s longtime lawyer Mark Geragos, who described their connection as a rare “bond” formed through shared experiences in the justice system.
Speaking on TMZ’s 2 Angry Men podcast, Geragos addressed speculation that Trump might be considering a presidential pardon for Combs. When asked if Diddy would pledge allegiance to Trump in exchange for freedom, he replied without hesitation:
“You want to know the truth? I think yes.”
Geragos clarified that it wasn’t about political loyalty but rather about mutual understanding. “There’s something about that fraternity of people who have been accused and have gone through the process that gives you an affinity,” he said.
According to him, it would not surprise him if Diddy told Trump: “I now get what you went through.”
The remarks come days after Combs’ legal team confirmed they had initiated discussions with Trump’s camp over a potential pardon.
Nicole Westmoreland, another of Diddy’s attorneys, told CNN last week: “It’s my understanding that we’ve reached out and had conversations in reference to a pardon. He is a very hopeful person and I believe that he remains hopeful.”
Trump, meanwhile, has kept his stance ambiguous, telling reporters in the Oval Office: “Nobody’s asked but I know people are thinking about it.”
Whether this “unlikely bond” will translate into presidential mercy remains uncertain, but behind-the-scenes talks are already underway.
