Former Big Brother Naija Season 6 housemate, Samuel Alifa, popularly known as Sammie, has addressed serious allegations that he defrauded a businessman of ₦4.4 million under the guise of securing a spot on the reality TV show.
The accusation surfaced in an exclusive report by Punch, where a businessman identified as Idakwo claimed that Sammie lured him into paying a large sum with the promise of guaranteed entry into the Big Brother Naija house.
According to Idakwo, Sammie used their shared Kogi State and Igala heritage to gain his trust, presenting the payment as part of a new “backdoor” audition arrangement.
“Sammie told me the money was refundable whether I made it into the house or not. He said it was the new twist to the show,” Idakwo said, adding that he sold his car to raise the funds and made the payment in 16 instalments.
He further claimed that Sammie began dodging repayment conversations after it became clear he would not be selected for the show.
In response to the allegations, Sammie issued a statement denying any wrongdoing.
“I truly appreciate your concern and your interest in hearing my side of the story,” he said. “However, just as I’ve shared with other journalists, I would prefer not to speak on this matter at the moment. I want to be clear that I did not scam anyone, nor did I promise to get him on the show.”
The matter continues to spark conversation online, with many awaiting further developments.
