Nigerian comedian and actor, Woli Arole, has stirred conversation online after condemning the rising trend of ladies attending public events without wearing a bra.
In his words, “Anyone that defends br@less outing is also indecent in her thoughts.” Arole stressed that while fashion evolves, public decency should never be sacrificed on the altar of trends.
His reaction comes in the wake of recent viral incidents, including the case of Comfort, the Ibom Air passenger whose chest was accidentally exposed during a heated altercation with an air hostess. The video sparked outrage on social media, with many Nigerians questioning the dignity and privacy of women in such moments.
Drawing from that example, Arole argued that if situations beyond one’s control can cause embarrassment and loss of dignity, then deliberately stepping out without proper undergarments is even more inappropriate. According to him, “It’s not just about comfort; it’s about self-respect and the image you project to society.”
The comedian’s comments have since divided opinions online, with some agreeing that decency should guide dressing, while others insist women should have the freedom to choose what they wear without judgment.
