Fifteen years after its release, Flavour N’abania’s second studio album, Uplifted, continues to hold a special place in the hearts of fans across the world. The album, which first introduced the richness of his artistry to a wider audience, showcased not only his powerful vocals and signature highlife production but also a deep-rooted connection to his Igbo heritage.
When Uplifted debuted in 2010, it quickly transcended local boundaries. Flavour’s proud celebration of his culture—particularly his Igbo identity—struck a chord both in Nigeria and among Igbo communities across the globe. That cultural authenticity has become the backbone of his enduring appeal.
Even now, data from Spotify highlights just how far Flavour’s music has traveled. Tracks from Uplifted continue to rack up streams worldwide, with songs like “Ashawo Remix,” “Adamma,” and “Oyi” standing out as timeless fan favourites. These hits, along with others like “Time To Party,” “Nwa Baby,” and “Game Changer,” have significantly boosted his global streaming numbers.
In an exclusive conversation reflecting on the album’s anniversary, Flavour shared:
“Adamma truly captured the essence of Flavour from the Uplifted album era.”
And fans seem to agree. His music has now appeared in more than 2 million user-generated playlists on Spotify. From 2022 to 2024, Flavour experienced a remarkable 134% growth in global streams, with a stunning 573% increase across Sub-Saharan Africa alone.
Though 51% of his total listeners are in Nigeria, Flavour’s influence reaches far beyond. The United States, United Kingdom, Canada, South Africa, and France are among the countries where his music thrives. Within Nigeria, Lagos leads the pack with 38% of his Nigerian listenership, followed by Abuja with 22% and Rivers State with 16%. Eastern cities like Enugu and Onitsha have also earned spots in his global top 10 streaming locations.
Internationally, cities like Greater London, Johannesburg, and New York City round out his top listening hubs, further illustrating how his music cuts across geographical and cultural divides.
Flavour’s audience remains youthful and diverse, with Gen Z (ages 18–24) making up his largest listener base globally and across Sub-Saharan Africa. While his music often celebrates women, Spotify data shows that men account for the majority of his global audience—57% overall, and 63% across Sub-Saharan Africa.
Driven by authenticity and artistic mastery, Flavour’s music has become a cultural bridge, introducing Nigerian traditions to the world. The ongoing success of Uplifted proves that deeply rooted storytelling, when paired with great sound, resonates far and wide—and never goes out of style.
