Nigerian music legend 2Baba, formerly known as 2face, has opened up about the ongoing tensions with his former bandmate, Blackface. During a recent interview with media personality Nedu, 2Baba expressed his frustration over the continuous accusations made against him by Blackface.
According to 2Baba, despite always treating Blackface with respect, he has been repeatedly targeted and criticized by him. He described many of Blackface’s claims as “absurd,” “ridiculous,” and “very painful.”
“I’m not somebody who comes and starts dragging words,” he said. “I don’t know what his intentions were, and I don’t know what I have ever done to him.”
Reflecting on their past collaboration, particularly on the iconic hit “African Queen,” 2Baba clarified that while the song was a joint effort, he was the primary writer.
“It was a collaboration. I wrote most of the song, actually, but we wrote it together,” he noted.
Still puzzled by the hostility, 2Baba admitted, “I’ve always shown him respect, but he has always been out there to smear my name. They are absurd, ridiculous and very painful at times. And, till today, I just wonder why? That’s the only thing I have in my head.”
