Nigerian music executive and talent manager, Ubi Franklin, has been plunged into deep sorrow following the painful death of his elder sister, who succumbed to cancer.
The grieving media personality took to Instagram on Sunday, July 13, 2025, to share the emotional news with his followers, recounting fond memories and expressing his anguish over the devastating loss.
In a touching tribute, Ubi described his sister as the most precious gift life ever gave him, a guiding light who played a pivotal role in shaping the man and brand the world knows today.
According to him, she was not just a sibling but also a mentor, a mother figure, and his number one supporter throughout his life and career journey.
“Today death visited me and took one of the most precious gifts life ever handed to me my sister. The one who birthed the Ubi Franklin you all know today. The one who opened my eyes to what life truly is,” he wrote.
Ubi Franklin revealed how his sister's influence changed the trajectory of his life. He recalled how, following the death of their father in 2004, he moved in with her and her husband in Abuja.
It was during a holiday in December 2005 that she took him to Lagos, a trip that marked the beginning of his journey into the entertainment industry. She would often remind him, “Before anyone else, you were my PA,” a phrase she affectionately used even until her final days.
His tribute also narrated the emotional moments he shared with her in the months leading to her death. Between April and July, Ubi spent quality time with her. Before leaving for England on July 3rd, he visited her room, bid her farewell, and promised to reunite with her after his return. But fate had other plans.
“Man plans, but God disposes,” he wrote, recounting how she travelled from Lagos back to Abuja on July 6th to be with her family. Just days later, on July 12th, he received a call that she had been moved to the ICU. While he was mid-air en route to Abuja, she passed away.
“This is one of the biggest losses of my life. When I landed in Abuja at 4:20 am, she had already passed but it was hidden from me till 4 pm today,” Ubi revealed.
Despite the immense pain, he expressed gratitude for the time they shared and the life lessons she imparted. He also noted the outpouring of love from friends, family, and others who were impacted by her kindness and selflessness.
“This hurts deeply. It has left a scar in my heart. But I will forever love you. And I know… you’re in a better place,” he concluded, with a broken heart and dove emoji symbolizing peace and farewell.
The post has since drawn condolence messages and prayers from celebrities, fans, and well-wishers, who joined him in mourning the loss of a beloved sister and remarkable woman.
