Veteran Nigerian actor and comedian Afeez Oyetoro, popularly known as Saka, has shared intimate details about his personal and professional journey during a candid interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo.

Reflecting on his earlier romantic experiences, Saka revealed how a past relationship ended due to financial constraints. “The woman I wanted to marry back then said I must have two cars,” he recounted. “I couldn’t meet that demand, and the love died.”

Now happily married, Saka described tying the knot at age 40 as a fulfilling decision, albeit with a humorous twist. “The only difference is that I pay school fees with grey hair,” he quipped. Speaking about his wife, he added, “Marrying her was my best decision ever.”

The actor also addressed a long-standing misconception about his affiliation with a telecom brand. “People thought I was an Etisalat ambassador, but I was just a model on the centre spread,” he clarified. He further explained why he opted for MTN instead of Glo, saying, “I wanted to go for Glo, but I was afraid. If I breached the contract, maybe I’d still be in prison today.”

Saka recalled how a single MTN advertisement turned his career around. “That one advert changed everything. It took me from being the funny man to a national icon,” he said.

On a more personal note, he disclosed the surprising reason behind his hair loss. Contrary to popular belief, it wasn’t due to aging. “I lost my hair not because of age, but because of a theatre role in university. They shaved my head for the part—and it never grew back,” he shared.

He also addressed assumptions about his personality, especially suggestions that he might be submissive. “Once I leave the stage or camera, I’m not the same Afeez. I’m a little reserved,” he clarified.

Saka's reflections offer a deeper look into the man behind the beloved comic character, highlighting the resilience, choices, and humility that have shaped his journey.
