Nollywood actor Lege Miami has stirred online conversation after openly admitting to walking out on a date when the woman ordered food far more expensive than his own.
In a self-recorded video making the rounds online, Lege explained his side of the story, claiming he was only trying to get ahead of potential backlash from gossip blogs.
“I took a girl out, which I rarely do. I ate food worth N7,500, while she ordered food worth N40,000. The food that I haven’t eaten is what she ordered. Me, I absconded. Instablog can call me out that I took a lady out but didn’t pay, so let me report myself,” he stated in the clip.
Lege's confession triggered mixed reactions across social media, with many Nigerians weighing in on who was in the wrong.
A user, @samdot001, urged him to handle such situations with more class, commenting, “Be a gentleman, bro.”
Another user, @kemini09, suggested the woman may have been hoping to meet someone serious, writing, “She’s looking for a responsible man.”
Others criticized Lege's decision to walk out. @sweetmotherconfessor said, “So what is the big deal? Why take her out at all if you’re going to control what she eats?”
User @sheismelanie_26 shared her own approach, stating, “Na why I dey always guide before I comot!! If u do anyhow, I’ll pay my bills.”
Meanwhile, @prettee_dimples advised people to always be prepared to handle their own expenses: “That’s why it’s good to order what you can pay for, so in cases like this you can’t just sort the bills and leave.”
Lege, known for his blunt personality, previously opened up on TVC's Your View about his personal life. He revealed he is seeing someone but doesn’t consider it a committed relationship. “I don't take nonsense,” he said, also disclosing that he has two children with a woman he found incompatible, and has never been married.
