Legendary Nollywood actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) is returning to the big screen this August in a cinematic experience unlike any other.

Titled Revelations, the film boldly fuses the spirit of the American Western with the emotional depth of Nigerian storytelling, all set within a story of legacy, identity, and love. The film is set for a nationwide theatrical release on August 15.

But Revelations isn’t just another acting credit for RMD — it’s a deeply personal project. For the first time, the screen icon will star alongside his real-life son, Tega Mofe-Damijo (TMD), who makes his acting debut in the film. The project marks a symbolic and literal passing of the torch from father to son, both in front of and behind the camera.

“A cowboy hat. A Nigerian heart. An American soul. A Naija story,” the official teaser declares — setting the tone for a cinematic fusion that cuts across borders, generations, and genres.

A Story Across Two Worlds

Revelations is a cross-continental journey that spans the red canyons of Utah, USA, to the vibrant, noisy streets of Lagos, Nigeria. At its core, it’s a powerful exploration of family, identity, and the age-old search for purpose.

The film centers on a father and son duo navigating the complexities of their relationship while straddling two different worlds. The cowboy aesthetic — a nod to classic American Westerns — blends seamlessly with African themes of family, honor, and destiny, offering something fresh for both Nollywood fans and international audiences.

This East-meets-West visual and narrative approach reflects the dual heritage and evolving identity of many modern Africans, especially those in the diaspora. It’s a bold, genre-defying film that merges action, drama, and cultural introspection.

A Star-Studded Cast

In addition to RMD and his son TMD, Revelations boasts an impressive lineup of talent from both Nigeria and the United States. Nigerian screen royalty Chioma Akpotha brings emotional depth to the story, while American talents like Tutt Price and Alex Boyé add international flair.

The cast also features:

Seun Akindele

Dior Adiele

Thenn Nnamdi Kanaga

Ryan Thomas

Freddie George

Asimpson Shawn Stevens

Pam Eichner

Victoria Ojifinni

Penny Iverson

Lenni Uitto

And many more, forming a richly diverse ensemble cast.

Each actor brings their own background and perspective to the film, enriching its multi-layered storyline.

A Father-Son Moment for the Ages

While the film’s premise stands strong on its own, the real-life dynamic between RMD and TMD adds a unique and emotional layer to the story. It’s a rare moment in African cinema where legacy is not just told — it’s lived.

TMD, a fresh face in the industry, is introduced to the audience with guidance and co-starring support from his father. This blending of generations on screen mirrors the very theme of the movie: two men from different walks of life finding common ground and walking into purpose together.

This isn’t just a film — it’s a moment in Nollywood history.

Behind the Scenes

Revelations is co-produced by Queen Tutt Productions and RMD Productions Ltd, reflecting a true cross-continental collaboration. The movie was shot on location in both the United States and Nigeria, with stunning cinematography that captures the vast, cinematic beauty of the Utah desert as well as the raw, energetic pulse of Lagos.

The film is distributed in partnership with Silverbird Film Distribution and The Nile Entertainment, both of whom are known for their dedication to pushing African stories to wider audiences, both locally and globally.

With such a rich narrative, diverse cast, and high production values, Revelations is poised to become a landmark release in African cinema — breaking genre boundaries and showcasing what modern Nollywood is capable of on the global stage.

More Than a Movie

For RMD, Revelations is more than a creative project — it’s a testament to growth, legacy, and cultural pride. It bridges continents, generations, and perspectives, offering a timely message about the power of identity and the beauty of embracing one’s roots while navigating new terrain.

“Revelations is a bridge between cultures. It’s a story of legacy passed from one generation to the next, and a celebration of identity,” RMD shared in a social media post.

With its compelling themes of love, loyalty, and purpose, Revelations is not only an exciting cinematic experience but also a cultural milestone.

Revelations opens in cinemas August 15 nationwide.
