Reality TV personality and former BBNaija housemate, Leo Dasilva, has voiced serious concern over the increasing availability of counterfeit products in Nigerian markets, particularly in Abuja.
Taking to social media, Leo shared his frustration after unknowingly purchasing multiple fake items over the span of a month. These included essential health and personal care products such as cod liver oil, antacid (Gestid), toothpaste, skincare products, and deodorants.
“The amount of fake drugs, fake deodorants, fake toothpaste and fake skin care in Nigeria is ridiculous,” he wrote.
“In one month, I have bought fake cod liver oil, fake Gestid, fake Sensodyne, fake Simple face wash, fake deodorant, etc.
NAFDAC need to raid all big supermarkets in Abuja,” he added.
He called on the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) to urgently step in and clamp down on stores selling counterfeit goods, warning that the situation poses a serious health risk to Nigerians.
Leo’s remarks have since drawn reactions from many Nigerians, some of whom confirmed experiencing similar issues with products bought from reputable supermarkets.
