The much-anticipated biopic Babalaje, chronicling the life and political legacy of the late Michael Adeniyi Koleosho, is set to premiere on September 2, 2025 exactly one year after his passing.
Produced by filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi, the film pays tribute to Koleosho's remarkable journey from humble beginnings in Saki to becoming one of the most influential political figures in Oyo State.
Koleosho, who passed away at the age of 86 in 2024, was known as the Babalaje of Saki. The film captures his early years in public service, his entrepreneurial ventures, and his key political milestones from being elected unopposed as a councilor in 1976 to serving as Secretary to the State Government during the Lamidi Adesina administration (1999–2003).
Speaking on the film’s inspiration, Oloketuyi said: “We want to use this project to immortalize Baba Koleosho’s legacy and inspire the next generation with his story of resilience, service, and vision.”
Babalaje features an ensemble cast of seasoned Nollywood stars, including Femi Branch, Joke Muyiwa, Biola Adebayo, Ayo Mogaji, Yemi Sodimu, and Bolaji Amusan (Mr. Latin), promising a deeply engaging retelling of Koleosho’s legacy.
The premiere will be held at a grand event in Lagos and followed by commemorative screenings in Abuja and Ibadan to mark the one-year anniversary of Koleosho’s death. The events are expected to attract political leaders, dignitaries, and Nollywood elites.
Koleosho's enduring influence as a businessman and public servant makes Babalaje more than just a film — it’s a celebration of history and leadership in Nigerian politics.
