Former Big Brother Naija housemate, Pere Egbi, has expressed deep sorrow following the death of Nigeria’s former president, Muhammadu Buhari, who was confirmed dead on Sunday in London at the age of 82.
Taking to his social media page, Pere shared his thoughts in a series of posts, describing the day as a tragic one for the country. He praised Buhari’s dedication to serving Nigeria, despite acknowledging the late president’s imperfections.
“This is a sad day for Nigeria and Nigerians. May God grant your family the fortitude to bear this great loss,” Pere wrote. “You led Nigeria to the best of your ability. While you weren’t a perfect man or leader (because no man is and no man will ever be), you gave your all to the country you.”
The reality star didn’t stop at offering condolences; he also addressed those who took to social media to celebrate Buhari’s passing. In a strong message, Pere condemned the act of mocking the dead, emphasizing the finality of death and the futility of harboring hate for the deceased.
“One thing about death, when it comes, you are wiped clean off the earth. Nothing else will matter to those you left behind. Whether love or hate or whatever. You’re gone, you’re gone,” he wrote. “That’s why it’s USELESS to celebrate and be happy over the death of anyone, regardless of how they made you feel or how they lived their life.”
Continuing, Pere stressed that the dead are now beyond the judgments of men, facing a greater power and accountability in eternity.
“They are now NO MORE. They are now HISTORY. They have now entered into eternity and are now being questioned by THE MOST HIGH. So you that is wanting to celebrate the death of PMB, what exactly is your gain? Nothing!”
Pere’s post has sparked mixed reactions online, with some applauding his maturity and others disagreeing with his stance. Nonetheless, his message remains a reminder of the sobering reality of death and the call for compassion—even towards those we may have disagreed with in life.
