Nigerian music star Adekunle Gold, also known as AG Baby, has expressed displeasure after a Wema Bank appeared to mirror a concept he recently introduced to celebrate academic success.
The artist had recently taken to social media to appreciate young Nigerians who graduated with top honours. He offered them financial support as a personal gesture, which sparked widespread admiration and conversations across various platforms.
Thereafter a promotional message from the bank surfaced, using a similar theme to market a weekend discount offer. The ad directly mentioned AG Baby in its wording, suggesting that those who didn’t benefit from his gesture could turn to the bank instead.
The singer looking unimpressed, Adekunle Gold responded publicly on Tuesday, tagging the bank and its digital platform. His message was brief but pointed:
“Dear @wemabank @alat_ng, when did this start? You’ll be hearing from my people.”
