Malcolm-Jamal Warner, the actor famously known for his role as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, has died at the age of 54.
ABC News reported on Monday that Warner drowned off the coast of Costa Rica on Sunday. Local police confirmed that the incident happened near Cocles Beach in the Limón province and that he died from asphyxia caused by drowning. Authorities say he was pulled under by a rip current, and his body was discovered later that afternoon.
Born on August 18, 1970, Warner made his television debut in 1982 on the series Matt Houston. He gained national recognition for his role on The Cosby Show and remained a steady presence in film and television for decades.
Most recently, he appeared in the Fox medical series The Resident, where he played a recurring role.
Warner’s passing has left fans and colleagues mourning the loss of a beloved actor and performer.
