Veteran Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has escalated her ongoing public spat with junior actress Nneoma Ukpabi following criticism of Nneoma’s revealing dress at Ruby Ojiakor’s wedding.
The dispute began when Nneoma’s outfit, featuring a plunging neckline and prominent cleavage, drew widespread backlash on social media. Rita condemned the choice as inappropriate for a white wedding, sparking a sharp response from Nneoma, who warned Rita to keep her name out of her mouth or risk having her “dirty secrets” exposed.
Undeterred by the threats, Rita fired back with a detailed and scathing rebuttal, choosing not to trade insults but firmly standing by her criticism. She also accused Nneoma of attempting to bribe her to cover up financial misconduct during a probe panel she once chaired for the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) in Imo State.
Rita stated:
“I was the chairman of the probe panel committee, Imo State, constituted by AGN. You kept calling and pleading with me to help cover you up and save your arse to prevent hampering your pursuit to become the AGN chairman’s second tenure because you embezzled their millions. I said no!!! And presented your records as dirty as they were. Then you saw me as an enemy, which I care less about.
As the rogue you are, you paid your way through and became the chairman of AGN Imo State chapter 👌.”
She continued, highlighting the fallout between them:
“You also disassociated yourself from me because you couldn’t deal with the advice I kept giving you. On the other hand, keeping you close is a dent on my person because your level of indecency is second to none, so I gave you a long spoon.”
Defending her decision to repost the viral video of Nneoma’s outfit, Rita said:
“The video of your indecency I posted was already going viral. Bloggers and a few content creators had to help you share your n@kedness. The world had to see your height of irresponsibility and w@ywardness, so reposting on my page to correct an impression shouldn’t be a problem. People needed to feed their eyes, which was exactly what you wanted.”
Rita also dismissed claims that she used Nneoma to boost her own media presence:
“Talking about using you to grow my page is laughable. I still don’t understand why I should do that. You lack media visibility, you’re not even recognised in this media space. Your followership is nothing to write home about — so inorganic and purchased. You’re not up to my feet as long as this industry is concerned. So I’m still wondering how influential you can be to my page. You must be very delusional to have made such a statement.”
Concluding her statement, Rita declared:
“Nneoma Ukpabi, I put it to you again that you’ve got nothing on me. I have clean records, and they are visible enough. The truth was just said — your outfit to Ruby’s wedding was irresponsible and indecent. I am saying it again and again. You are a bad influence and should not be mingled with 👌.”
