Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has opened up about the personal sacrifice and behind-the-scenes support that made her role in Elevator Baby possible. In a heartfelt interview, Toyin revealed that during the production of the award-winning film, she was seven months pregnant with her son, Ireoluwa.
Her pregnancy, which she had kept away from the public eye at the time, added an unexpected twist to her acting commitments.
Interestingly, the director of the movie, Niyi Akinmolayan, was unaware of her condition when he approached her with the role.
Out of concern for her health and the safety of the unborn child, Toyin insisted that he seek her husband Kolawole Ajeyemi’s consent before she could agree to participate. Kolawole gave his blessings and even stayed on set with her throughout the shoot. Two medical nurses were also present to ensure her well-being during filming.
Despite the challenging circumstances, Toyin delivered a stellar performance that contributed to the film's success. She now reflects on the experience with pride and gratitude, calling it one of the most intense but fulfilling projects of her career.
The Alakada star’s story goes beyond the film it sheds light on the strength of women in entertainment and the importance of family support. Toyin, who has previously spoken about suffering a miscarriage, continues to be vocal about her personal journey, including marital challenges and societal pressure.
In a time when female celebrities often face criticism for juggling family and career, Toyin’s candidness is a refreshing reminder of resilience, partnership, and professional dedication.
