Nigerian rap icon Ruggedman has shared his growing enthusiasm for acting, revealing a strong commitment to explore more roles in Nollywood.
Speaking in a recent interview, the rapper, who has been steadily finding his feet in the film scene, explained that acting has always been a personal passion—one he finally embraced when the timing felt right.
He first appeared on screen in Jim Iyke’s Bad Comments, followed by a role as a police officer in Toyin Abraham’s Ghost and the Tout Too.
His most recent appearance was in Nora Awolowo’s crime thriller Red Circle, where he played a character named “Superglue.”
Reflecting on the project, he said, “One lesson from the movie is that there are consequences to all actions, no matter who you are or your position in society.”
Ruggedman admitted that stepping onto set with seasoned actors like Bukky Wright, Lateef Adedimeji, and Femi Branch was initially overwhelming but ultimately rewarding.
“The only challenge I had was being surrounded by highly talented actors. I just didn’t want to mess up. Thankfully, nobody complained about me. The Rixel Studios team also made the entire experience smooth,” he said.
In addition to acting, Ruggedman revealed that he has completed a film script of his own and is preparing to move into production.
“I’m ready to do more acting as long as the story is good. I’ve even sent the word out that there’s a new actor in town. I also have my own script and plan to produce something big soon,” he said.
With a career defined by bold, message-driven music, Ruggedman is now charting a fresh path in the world of film—one that still aligns with his creative identity.
