The Senior Pastor of House on the Rock, Paul Adefarasin, has broken his silence after a controversial video circulated on social media, alleging he pointed a firearm at a motorist during a traffic situation in Lagos.
The clip, which sparked outrage online, showed the respected cleric lowering his car window and holding out an object toward an unidentified driver. Many online users speculated that the item in question resembled a firearm, accusing Adefarasin of reckless behavior.
However, in a statement released on Saturday, Adefarasin clarified the situation, stressing that the object was not a gun and that the video had been widely misinterpreted.
In his words: "I’m aware of a short clip making rounds that shows me holding something out of my car window. Contrary to social media claims, it was not a firearm, and I did not threaten anyone."
He added that the circulating narrative was misleading and assured his followers and the public that there was no aggressive intent behind his actions. Adefarasin further stated that more details would be addressed during the Sunday service at his church’s headquarters.
The pastor’s statement concluded with an appeal for calm, expressing gratitude to those who have shown understanding during the episode.
The viral footage had earlier drawn a flurry of criticism, with many Nigerians calling for an explanation, citing concerns over public conduct by prominent figures.
This development comes amid heightened awareness about security and responsible behavior, especially from high-profile individuals.
