Popular Nigerian On-Air Personality, Nedu, has stirred up heated conversations online after posting a bold and humorous question on Instagram, targeting women’s obsession with expensive hair.
The OAP, known for his controversial takes on social issues, took a swipe at the beauty standards many women strive to uphold, particularly the craze for luxury human hair. In his viral post, Nedu wrote:
“What shall it profit a lady to have the whole human hair in the world, only to lose your man to a girl on low cut?”
The post quickly gained traction, drawing mixed reactions from both men and women. While some laughed off the statement, others took it as an opportunity to dissect the deeper issue of societal pressure on women to look a certain way in order to keep a man.
One commenter responded, “Ladies should shop for good character, not just wigs and makeup.” Another added, “A he-goat will always remain the same. Hair or no hair doesn’t keep a man.”
Some male commenters also chimed in with preferences, noting that they found women on natural hair or low cut more attractive and authentic.
However, not everyone agreed with Nedu’s perspective. A female commenter passionately argued: “Women don’t dress up for men. We do it for ourselves. Beauty is personal, not performative.”
Nedu’s post, while tongue-in-cheek, has once again ignited conversations about gender expectations, beauty standards, and the often unrealistic ideas surrounding relationships in today’s society.
Whether you agree with him or not, one thing is clear: Nedu knows how to get people talking.
