Jonathan Joss, a 59-year-old American actor widely recognized for his role in the animated series King of the Hill, was reportedly shot and killed on Sunday following a dispute with a neighbour, the BBC has reported.
The San Antonio Police Department announced on Monday that 56-year-old Sigfredo Ceja Alvarez has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the shooting.
Authorities have yet to reveal details about what led to the deadly confrontation, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Addressing circulating claims that the killing was a hate crime, police stated, “Despite online claims of this being a hate crime, currently the investigation has found no evidence to indicate that Mr. Joss’s murder was related to his sexual orientation.
“Investigators handle these allegations very seriously and have thoroughly reviewed all available information.
“Should any new evidence come to light, the suspect will be charged accordingly.”
Jonathan Joss was best known for lending his voice to the character John Redcorn on King of the Hill. He had built a respected career in film and television, notably for his authentic portrayals of Native American characters.
