The Will of the late Chief (Engr. Dr.) Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, a revered elder statesman and former President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has stirred conversation following the revelation of a clause prohibiting his wife, Lolo Frances Iwuanyanwu, from remarrying.

The legal document, officially unveiled on June 16, 2025, by Chief Chukwuma Ekomaru (SAN), who is serving as the Will's administrator, details the distribution of Iwuanyanwu’s vast estate. Among the notable provisions, Frances was bequeathed the prominent “Legacy House” situated on Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, but with the stipulation that the property must never be sold.

In addition to the Legacy House, Frances also inherited ownership of Magil Furniture—a business formerly overseen by Iwuanyanwu’s late first wife, Eudora—as well as partial stakes in real estate across Orji, Works Layout, and Naze in Imo State. However, these inheritances are contingent on her remaining unmarried. Should she choose to remarry, the Will mandates an automatic forfeiture of these assets.

Their son is designated to inherit the family’s Abuja residence, while the London property is to be sold. The distribution of the proceeds from the sale is clearly laid out: 60% is allocated for the education of Iwuanyanwu’s youngest son, 30% goes to his first son, Jide, and 10% is assigned to Ezinne—who currently resides in the London home—to support her in finding new accommodation.

In a move reflective of Iwuanyanwu’s philanthropic values, the Will also instructs that the “Glass House” near the Orji flyover be transformed into a public trust. This facility will be governed by an independent board and dedicated to community development and charitable initiatives.

The rest of his extensive holdings in Abuja, Imo, and other parts of the country have been equitably shared among his five children. The family has responded positively to the terms of the Will, describing the late businessman’s final wishes as “honorable and just.”
