Nigerian rapper and activist Folarin Falana, popularly known as Falz, has voiced uncertainty about raising his children in the country, admitting that while he believes in Nigeria’s potential, he’s hesitant about committing to raising a family here.

Speaking during a recent episode of the Dear Ife Series Podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro, the socially conscious artist was caught off guard when asked whether he would raise his future children in Nigeria.

“Ah! That’s a deep question. I didn’t expect to hear this question. I haven’t really thought that far, let me not lie,” Falz responded.

He continued, expressing mixed emotions on the matter: “It’s something I cannot outrightly say ‘yes’ to. And it’s so sad. But I can’t also outrightly say ‘no’ because I’m pro-Nigerian and I really believe that we can actually get it right. But I don’t know, I don’t know, but let’s see.”

Falz, known for using his music and platform to highlight Nigeria’s socio-political issues, reaffirmed his hope in the country’s future but also acknowledged the complexities of raising a family amid current national challenges.
