Nigerian comedian and actor, Woli Arole, has taken a firm stance against the trend of women choosing surrogacy despite being medically fit to carry pregnancies themselves.
In a recent Instagram post, Arole expressed concern over what he described as the growing influence of "wokeness" on women’s decisions regarding childbirth. He emphasized that it is a divine privilege for a woman to bear her own child and urged women not to lose sight of that blessing.
“Listen carefully. It is a blessing for a woman to carry her baby in her womb. That’s how God wants it. Don’t let wokeness derail you,” he said.
He clarified that while assisted reproductive options like IVF and surrogacy are valid for women facing medical challenges, they should not be casually chosen by those who are perfectly healthy.
“Unless for medical reasons, she can adopt options like Surrogacy, IVF and all. You can’t say 'my body, my decision. I don’t feel like carrying a child. I want surrogacy.' No!! Your body is God’s Temple!!” he added.
Arole concluded by reminding women of the sacredness of the female body, insisting that the ability to carry a child is not only biological but spiritual.
“Don’t let wokeness derail you. Your body is God’s temple. Surrogacy is not something you just choose!! There’s a reason God gave you a womb,” he stressed.
