A groundbreaking historical drama, IRÈKÉ: Rise of the Maroons, is gearing up to make its highly anticipated debut in cinemas across the United Kingdom and globally beginning Friday, July 25.
Touted as more than just a film, the production is described by its creators as a powerful movement—an ambitious cinematic retelling that explores the untold story of resistance, heritage, and legacy from West Africa to the Caribbean.
Directed by Emmy-nominated filmmaker Gbolahan Peter Macjob, and brought to life by the AMAA-winning team behind No Shade, IRÈKÉ journeys through a rich tapestry of Black history, from the royal lineage of the Yoruba people to the revolutionary defiance of the Maroons.
The film will be available in U.K. cinemas including Genesis, Rich Mix, Peckhamplex, Regent Street Cinema, Lumiere Romford, Phoenix, Stockroom, Odeon, and Vue International. Audiences can access cinema schedules and updates via the official site: www.irekemovie.com.
