Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry recently opened up about her relationship with boyfriend Van Hunt and why she’s hesitant to rush into marriage again. Despite being together for five years, Berry revealed that while Van has proposed, she’s chosen to put the idea of marriage on pause at least for now.
In a candid interview, Van Hunt shared that he popped the question, but Berry hasn’t accepted it yet. "It’s still out there floating," he said humorously, encouraging fans to nudge Halle. The couple seems comfortable navigating their relationship without the traditional pressure of tying the knot immediately.
Berry explained that both of their past marriages have shaped their current views. Having been married three times herself, Halle believes marriage isn’t necessary to prove their love or commitment. “We don’t feel like we have to get married to validate our love in any way,” she said. Van Hunt, too, has experienced marriage before, making them both cautious but realistic about the institution.
Still, Halle admits that marrying Van feels different. “Out of all the people I’ve been married to, this is the person I should have married,” she confessed. For her, marriage would be a meaningful expression of their bond, not just a societal expectation.
The couple first made their relationship public in 2020, and since then, Van has built a relationship with Berry’s children. Halle’s heartfelt comments about their love show a rare vulnerability, highlighting how this connection has transformed her life.
Though she’s not rushing into marriage, Berry promises that a wedding with Van is something they both want and it may happen soon.
