Nollywood star actress and renowned filmmaker Funke Akindele has officially announced the highly-anticipated return of her hit series Aiyetoro Town. The second season is set to premiere on YouTube on Sunday, June 22nd, via FAANtv’s channel.

Taking to Instagram, Akindele shared the exciting news with her fans, noting that it’s been five years since the release of the first season. She promised a fresh dose of “laughter, drama, and of course, life lessons” in the new installment.

“5 years ago, we brought you Aiyetoro Town season 1, and now we’re back with season 2!!” she wrote.

“Get ready for laughter, drama and of course, life lessons.

Aiyetoro Town Season 2 premieres on FAANtv’s YouTube channel on Sunday, June 22nd!”

She also took a moment to show appreciation for her team, saying, “A big thank you to my amazing cast and crew – your dedication and talent made this story come alive! You all are the real MVPs! 📸 @sabiegal.”

Following the announcement, fans and fellow entertainers took to the comment section with enthusiastic reactions. Actress Kiitan Bukola wrote, “Everywhere flame. Stew is ready,” while Jide Awobona commented, “Beautiful, can’t wait.” Others echoed similar excitement with messages like “Let’s go,” “Can’t wait,” and “Another banger.”

This isn’t Akindele’s first foray into YouTube content. Just last month, she revealed that her blockbuster film Omo Ghetto: The Saga would also be arriving on the platform, much to the delight of her followers. She encouraged fans to expect “drama, suspense, and nonstop humour.”

Akindele's drive and consistency continue to cement her place as Africa’s box office powerhouse. In early 2024, her film A Tr!be Called Judah became the first Nigerian movie to cross the N1.4 billion mark in cinemas. She later surpassed her own record with the release of Everybody Loves Jenifa, which grossed an impressive N1.6 billion.
