Bukky Raji Apologises for Supporting Tinubu, Says She Feels the Hardship Too

Nollywood actress Bukky Raji has publicly expressed regret for supporting President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, offering a heartfelt apology to Nigerians as economic challenges deepen across the country.

In an emotional video posted on X on Saturday, Raji admitted she’s been hit by the same hardship affecting millions and now feels remorse for the role she played in promoting the current administration.

“What I regret in my life… I’m begging all Nigerians, both those that love me and those who don’t. They didn’t tell me. I’m also feeling it. Please don’t be angry,” she pleaded.

Raji clarified that her apology wasn’t driven by online criticism or trolling but stemmed from personal frustration over the reality on ground.

“I’m not apologising because I was dragged on my page but because I’m also feeling it. I’m pained because I campaigned for Bola Tinubu because many people are suffering,” she said.

Explaining her motivation at the time, the actress said she assumed Tinubu would adopt similar economic policies as his predecessor, particularly concerning trade access.

“What made me campaign for him was because in the North, Buhari opened border for them when he was the president. So I thought Bola Tinubu would also do the same after he gets to the position,” she explained.

Speaking further, Raji recounted how inflation and harsh economic conditions have disrupted her business and finances.

“I’m even a partaker of the hardship because of the business I’m into. I have a godfather. Me that started with just twenty bags of rice, I became someone using trailer to load bags of rice. Now tell me, am I not suffering now? We are suffering now — including those that campaigned and those who did not. Please, I’m sorry I offend you all,” she concluded.
