Nigerian singer Bella Shmurda has opened up about the downside of fame, saying that while success has brought recognition and money, it has also taken away his freedom.
Speaking during a recent vlog on Channel Twenty7, the Cash App crooner reflected on how life has changed since he rose to stardom at age 25. According to him, the transition from an everyday lifestyle to that of a public figure has come with emotional and financial strain.
“I blew up at the age of 25. I only enjoy the celebrity lifestyle just a little. When I wasn’t a celebrity, I used to be more free and hang out with friends. But now, it’s like I’m in a box,” he said.
He also noted that being the main source of income for his family has intensified the pressure. “I am the major breadwinner of my family, that comes with a lot of pressure. It’s hard. The money has got to keep coming if not, I’m in trouble,” he added.
Despite the challenges, Bella Shmurda expressed confidence in his journey, stating that he always had a sense he was destined for success. “There’s this feeling. If you are going to make it, you will know and you won’t stop working. Naturally, you will be feeling it,” he said.
The singer’s comments shed light on the hidden realities behind fame, highlighting the emotional weight that often comes with being in the spotlight.
