Nollywood actress and businesswoman Aisha Lawal has opened up about how the COVID-19 pandemic unexpectedly became a major breakthrough in her life, financially and personally.
Speaking in a recent interview, the talented Yoruba film star revealed that she made over N10 million within a span of two weeks during the lockdown a period she described as transformative.
Aisha attributed her success to resilience and hard work, sharing insights into her early hustle and how she navigated challenges before achieving financial stability. She recounted travelling across Nigerian states using night buses, often just to save accommodation costs.
According to her, she even took buses that transported livestock to cut expenses while chasing her dreams. “I didn’t mind the discomfort,” she said, “I just needed to survive and build something for myself.”
Addressing online speculations that she was gifted a Venza SUV by Lagos socialite MC Oluomo, Aisha dismissed the claims as baseless.
She emphasized that she neither owns a Venza nor has ever received a car from him, clarifying that she currently drives a Lexus GX 460 and owns several business outlets. “People just like to drag names online,” she said, expressing frustration at the misinformation spreading across social media.
She further reflected on her background, revealing that her father was unaware of her acting career before his passing due to his negative views on the profession.
Though her father once encouraged her to study Theatre Arts, his beliefs about actresses led her to keep her career path private.
Despite the ups and downs, Aisha says she has no regrets. She believes life’s hardships have shaped her into who she is today. “I’ve tasted both suffering and success,” she said, “and I wear my scars with pride.”
