Nollywood actor and clergyman Yul Edochie has linked the increasing cases of untimely deaths in society to the widespread rejection of traditional African practices in favor of foreign cultures.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, Edochie expressed concern over the growing frequency of premature deaths, suggesting that many people are facing such tragic ends because they have turned their backs on indigenous spiritual systems.

“Untimely death has become rampant in our society,” he wrote, adding that this trend is “happening because majority of us have abandoned our traditional ways and embraced the ways of the white man.”

The actor urged Nigerians to reconnect with their roots and embrace traditional spirituality, which he believes holds essential knowledge for spiritual protection and longevity.

“Go home and embrace our traditional ways,” he advised. “As a traditionalist, you’ll be fully enlightened on the dos and don’ts of spirituality. If you keep to it judiciously, untimely death will never be your portion.”

Edochie, who has become increasingly vocal about his spiritual beliefs in recent times, has often advocated for the revival of African values and customs in both religious and cultural contexts.
