Nigerian singer Skales has strongly denied a viral tweet making the rounds on social media which falsely attributed controversial comments about his marriage to him.
The tweet, posted by an X (formerly Twitter) user, alleged that Skales said he divorced his wife because of a remark she made under one of his posts, claiming: “I divorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t regret it. When my wife made the comment on my post, I got angry. People cannot be mocking your husband’s music career the music that is paying your bills and you join them.”
Reacting swiftly, Skales took to his official social media account to shut down the claim, describing it as both malicious and entirely fabricated.
“This is really evil of you that you would cook up such story and this is not fair. I have never made such statement and this is false… please stop spreading lies,” he wrote.
The singer’s clarification comes amid renewed public interest in his personal life. In 2022, following the death of his mother, Skales had posted a diss track that appeared to take shots at his wife.
The incident sparked speculation about their marriage, but he later publicly apologized. The couple subsequently reconciled and welcomed their first child together in March 2023.
The false quote has stirred reactions online, with fans and colleagues showing support for Skales and calling out the spread of misinformation. As of now, the identity of the individual behind the fake tweet remains unknown.
Skales has urged the public to disregard the quote and has warned against the consequences of spreading falsehoods for clout.
