Popular Nigerian skit maker and social media personality, Adesokan Emmanuel, better known as Shank Comics, has shared a surprising backstory about his family’s religious journey.
In a recently surfaced clip from a conversation with a fellow content creator in Canada, Shank recalled how his father transitioned from Islam to Christianity during a difficult period in their lives.
The comedian explained that at the time, his father was experiencing severe hunger. After receiving food from a church, he decided to embrace the Christian faith.
“I’m a Christian, though I still bear the name Saheed,” Shank said. “My dad was a Muslim, but there was a time he was very hungry, and a church gave him food—that’s how he converted. We were just hungry. My dad is so cheap.”
The video has since gone viral, drawing reactions across social media for its mix of humor and vulnerability.
