Nollywood actress Sarah Martins has issued a heartfelt apology to Afrobeats star Davido after he publicly reprimanded her for wrongly claiming he opened a restaurant that wasn’t in his wife Chioma’s name.
The actress had earlier made a post suggesting that the restaurant widely discussed online should have been named after Chioma, expressing her belief that such a move would have reflected love and honor for Davido’s wife.
However, Davido wasted no time in setting the record straight. The singer explained that he had not launched any restaurant, but had only partnered with a food delivery brand to promote his new album, “5ive.” In a fiery direct message, he told Sarah:
“Wtf is wrong with u? Delete that dumb ass shit. Which fucking restaurant did I open? Pls. I didn’t open any restaurant. Pls delete it now.”
Following the backlash, Sarah took to Instagram with an apology video, addressing Davido as “my King, one and only 001.” She clarified that her comment stemmed from a post by popular food critic Opeyemi and was never intended to mislead or disrespect the couple.
“If you know me well, you’d know I’m a die-hard fan of Davido and Chioma,” she said. “I would never intentionally disrespect either of them. I jumped to conclusions based on misinformation. OBO, I am your number one fan. Please forgive me. This is coming from a place of love.”
Sarah also promised to issue a formal statement to clear the air, while urging fans and fellow celebrities to always verify information before posting publicly.
The incident has sparked conversations online about celebrity misinformation and the consequences of impulsive social media commentary.
