A native doctor from Enugu State has spoken out after being accused of involvement in kidnapping and ritual killings, insisting that he is the target of a calculated setup. The traditional healer, whose identity is being withheld pending formal charges, claimed he is being framed in an attempt to ruin his reputation and block his ascension to a royal title.
Authorities reportedly discovered a human body buried in a soakaway pit located on the premises of the native doctor’s residence. The grim discovery led to his arrest and public outrage, as the case quickly drew widespread attention due to the suspected ritualistic nature of the act.
However, the accused has strongly denied any involvement in the alleged crimes. Speaking during an interrogation, he maintained that he had no knowledge of how the body came to be on his property.
*"They planted the dead body in my soakaway pit,"* the native doctor claimed. According to him, the allegations are part of a larger plot by individuals who feel threatened by his growing influence in the community.
He further explained that he is next in line to assume a traditional leadership position in his village—a development that, he believes, has made him the target of envious rivals determined to destroy his chances of becoming king.
While investigations are ongoing, the case has sparked a broader conversation about local power struggles, the abuse of traditional practices, and the use of criminal allegations to settle personal scores.
Law enforcement officials have yet to confirm whether any additional suspects are being investigated in connection with the case. Meanwhile, community members remain divided, with some expressing support for the accused and others demanding a thorough inquiry to bring any perpetrators to justice.
