Jennifer Awele, widow of late Nollywood actor Junior Pope, is grieving once again after losing her father-in-law, Ozor Luke Odonwodo.
The mother of three shared the heartbreaking news on Instagram on Wednesday, expressing her sorrow and reflecting on her recent visit to him in Enugu, just weeks before his passing.
She recounted the moment her mother-in-law called to deliver the sad news, explaining that she initially screamed in shock but had to quickly compose herself as her mother-in-law broke down in tears.
Jennifer described Ozor Luke as a loving and selfless man who genuinely cared for her. She expressed gratitude for the short but meaningful time they spent together during his final days, unknowingly bidding farewell.
“Barely one month ago, I was with you in Enugu,” she wrote. “Some days later, Reme (my mother-in-law) called to check on me and the boys, then told me her husband had gone to meet my husband.”
She added, “Ozor Luke Odonwodo was a man who truly loved me. He lived a full life, made sacrifices for his family, and enjoyed the rewards of his labor. I am so thankful I got to be with him in his last moments.”
Acknowledging the emotional weight of losing both her husband and father-in-law within a year, Jennifer prayed for strength for herself, her mother-in-law, and the entire family.
“Adieu, Father and Son,” she wrote. “You are deeply missed, but we hold on to the promises of resurrection in John 5:28-29 and Acts 24:15. May your gentle souls rest in peace until we meet again.”
