Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the lead pastor at Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), has issued a candid piece of advice about relationships, urging people not to date while they are jobless.
Speaking on the topic, the pastor highlighted how being without a job can cloud judgment and influence the kind of relationships people enter into.
According to Pastor Idowu, when someone is unemployed, their limited resources and financial struggles often distort their choices in partners.
He explained that many people mistake desperation for love, staying in relationships not because of true affection but because poverty leaves them vulnerable.
He warned that once these individuals secure stable employment and begin earning, they often realize that their earlier relationships were driven more by their circumstances than genuine connection. The pastor described this as “hunger-induced” relationships rather than love-induced ones.
“Don’t date when you are jobless,” he emphasized. “When you’re poor, you settle for less and accept crumbs because that’s all you think you deserve. But you need to shift your mindset to one of abundance, where you value yourself and your worth.”
Pastor Idowu also criticized common ambitions fueled by scarcity thinking, such as dreaming of traveling abroad as the ultimate goal, encouraging his followers to think bigger and aim higher.
