Veteran Nollywood actor Nonso Diobi has finally addressed the long-standing curiosity surrounding his bachelorhood, revealing the emotional and personal struggles that have kept him single despite being 48 years old.
In a recent interview, the beloved screen star shared that while he’s had the desire to settle down, he often found himself caught between reality and the world of make-believe, having spent the majority of his life in front of the camera.
According to him, this unique experience shaped his outlook on relationships in ways he didn’t anticipate.
“I started acting at a young age, and over time, it affected how I approached real-life situations, especially relationships,” Nonso explained. “Sometimes, I didn’t even realize I was treating romantic relationships like I was acting in a movie.”
The actor admitted that he unintentionally allowed his career and public persona to blur the lines between genuine emotional connection and performance. While he made efforts to build serious relationships, something always felt unnatural.
“I didn’t fully understand what it meant to be just myself away from the spotlight, away from the scripts. That made it hard to create the kind of bond that leads to marriage,” he said.
Despite these challenges, Nonso emphasized that he hasn’t given up on love. He remains hopeful that with greater self-awareness, he’ll eventually meet someone who connects with him on a deep, authentic level.
