Veteran Nigerian artist Oritsefemi has opened up about his past relationship with Afrobeats star Burna Boy, reflecting on a time when the now-global superstar was still finding his feet in the industry. In a candid statement, Oritsefemi recalled offering support to Burna Boy during a difficult period, revealing that the "City Boys" singer once sought refuge in his Lekki home.
According to Oritsefemi, Burna Boy arrived at his mansion in distress, overwhelmed by personal challenges involving his mother. "He came crying, shedding real tears, telling me how his mum was suffocating him," Oritsefemi recounted. The singer emphasized that he provided Burna Boy with a safe space and emotional support at a crucial time in his career.
Despite the support he claims to have given, Oritsefemi expressed disappointment at being left out of Burna Boy’s acknowledgments of industry mentors and supporters. "That’s why it surprises me today, when he mentions OGs who helped him, and somehow leaves my name out," he said, clearly feeling overlooked by someone he once considered close.
Still, Oritsefemi seemed to take it all in stride, concluding his remarks with a note of resignation. "But it’s life sha," he added, acknowledging that such situations are part of the unpredictable nature of relationships and fame in the entertainment world.
