Nigerian music legend 2Baba has joined the growing chorus of voices calling for urgent and sweeping reforms in the country’s education sector.

In a post shared on his Instagram page on Thursday, the African Queen singer emphasized the need for a complete transformation of the current educational framework.

“We need to change our entire education system in Nigeria. Alkebulan/Africa #unwashthebrainwash,” he wrote.

Although the 49-year-old artist did not delve into specific reasons behind his remark, his statement comes amid national concern over student performance in key academic assessments.

The 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results were recently released, revealing that over 1.5 million out of 1,955,059 candidates scored below 200 — a staggering 75% failure rate. The alarming outcome has triggered renewed public discourse on the state of education in Nigeria, with many stakeholders calling for an immediate and holistic review of the system.

2Baba’s comments also come as he continues to make headlines beyond music. In January, he publicly confirmed his separation from wife and actress Annie Idibia.

The singer has since acknowledged his relationship with Natasha Osawaru, a legislator representing a constituency in Edo State. In February, he proposed to Osawaru, clarifying that their relationship began independently of his breakup with Annie. The lawmaker recently updated her Instagram bio to include his surname, further confirming their growing bond.
