Nigerian influencer and newlywed Priscilla Ojo has come to the defense of her husband, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, following backlash over his Headies Award win.

The 17th edition of the prestigious Headies Awards took place on Sunday evening at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos. Juma Jux, who attended the ceremony alongside Priscilla, took home the award for Best East African Artiste of the Year. During his acceptance speech, he expressed gratitude to God, his wife, his management team, his family, his fans (JP lovers), and the organisers for their recognition of East African music.

Following his win, a Twitter user known as Oku Yungx suggested that Juma Jux's marriage to Priscilla was a strategic move to gain fame and awards in Nigeria, writing: “Lmao. The game is the game.”

In response, Priscilla took to Twitter to defend her husband, using sarcasm to address the accusation. She wrote, “Yes, o, he got married for Nigerians recognition and the Headies Award. The game is the game, my brother. Shout-out to my husband, such a smart, calculative, and hardworking man. I’m so lucky. Big love to JP fans for voting. We love you.”
