Pastor Jimmy Odukoya, the senior pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, recently shared a remarkable story about how God used his dreadlocks to save a life. In a sermon that has sparked widespread online discussion, Odukoya revealed that God had instructed him not to cut his hair, a decision that would later play a key role in a life-changing encounter.
Odukoya explained that before taking over as pastor from his late father, he sought divine clarity about his appearance, especially regarding his dreadlocks. Despite concerns raised by his sister, who also prayed about the matter, both siblings received the same divine message: Odukoya should keep his hair. He followed this guidance, trusting that it had a greater purpose.
The pastor went on to recount an extraordinary meeting with a woman from Zimbabwe who had traveled to Nigeria specifically to attend his church service. She shared a vision from 2016 in which she saw Odukoya, then with long hair, wielding a sword to vanquish a dog symbolizing the burden she carried. In the vision, he offered her prophetic instructions that would help her overcome personal struggles.
Fast forward to 2025, and after enduring immense hardship, including the loss of her home, a divorce, and the death of her mother, the woman found Odukoya’s sermon online. Upon seeing him, she immediately recognized him as the figure from her vision.
Odukoya expressed that if he had cut his hair as he initially considered, the woman’s encounter with him would not have had the same significance. He believes that by keeping his hair, God used his appearance to deliver a message of hope and healing to the woman, ultimately saving her life.
This testimony has left many amazed, underscoring Odukoya's belief that God’s plans are often beyond human understanding, and that obedience to divine guidance can have profound effects.
