Nigerian writer and life coach Solomon Buchi has announced that he, along with his wife and son, will be relocating permanently to Nigeria, reaffirming his dedication to the country’s development.
In a post shared on X on Tuesday, Buchi revealed that he had gone as far as tearing up his son’s British passport and replacing it with a Nigerian one, emphasising his willingness to face any challenges in Nigeria to contribute to its progress.
“My wife and I have decided to move back to Nigeria. We all need to come together and build our nation. I’ve torn my son’s British passport and ordered a Nigerian passport. I’m willing to endure any hardship in Nigeria to see it work,” he shared.
The news has generated mixed reactions, with some applauding his patriotic stance, while others are questioning the feasibility of his decision.
While many Nigerians are seeking opportunities abroad due to issues such as economic instability and poor governance, Buchi’s choice to return contrasts sharply with the growing ‘japa’ trend. Some critics have suggested that his decision might be an over-the-top gesture, while others view it as a powerful example of commitment to his homeland.
Buchi, who frequently discusses topics related to personal development and societal growth, has made his decision in the hope of encouraging others to think about Nigeria’s future.
