Yoruba actress Eniola Ajao has broken her silence over allegations linking her to the arrest of controversial crossdresser, Bobrisky, shortly after her movie premiere last year. In a recent interview shared on Oyinmomo’s official YouTube channel, Ajao made it clear that she had no hand in the incident.
The drama started when Bobrisky was awarded “Best Dressed Female” at Ajao’s movie premiere a move that sparked widespread backlash, particularly within Nollywood circles. Shortly after the event, Bobrisky was arrested by the police, leading many to speculate that Ajao had played a role in his apprehension.
Addressing the matter, Ajao said her decision to honour Bobrisky at the premiere was purely for promotional reasons and had nothing to do with any legal issues. “I gave the best-dressed female award to Bobrisky to promote my movie,” she explained. “I didn’t expect the reaction I got from my colleagues. I had to personally reach out to explain my intentions.”
She emphasized that Bobrisky’s arrest was related to financial misconduct, not the award ceremony. “He knows why he was arrested. It had nothing to do with me. I always visit him and stood by him even when many of his so-called friends disappeared,” Ajao said.
The actress also stressed that she and Bobrisky remain on good terms, insisting that no amount of online speculation can change that. “I’ve always been a good friend to him. No matter how much I try to explain on social media, people will believe what they want to believe.”
Her comments have since sparked renewed debates online, with many praising her loyalty while others continue to question her decision to involve Bobrisky in the event.
