Businesswoman Shade Okoya has shared her thoughts on marrying billionaire industrialist Razak Okoya, stating that despite their significant age difference, she has never felt like she missed out on anything in life.
Now 48, Shade became the wife of the Eleganza Group founder in 1999 when she was just 21. Her husband, Razak Okoya, is now 85.
In a recent interview with BBC Yoruba, the mother of four addressed public curiosity around her marriage, particularly questions surrounding their decades-wide age gap. She emphasized that her relationship has been deeply fulfilling and that age has never posed an issue between them.
“My husband has been very generous with me, and defends me anywhere. God said this is where I will be. We met each other, and he liked me and he did not waste time at all,” she said.
Shade further expressed contentment in her marriage, brushing aside assumptions that she may have sacrificed experiences by not marrying someone closer to her age.
“I’m happy in my marriage to him. He is far older than me but I don’t think I ever missed out on anything because I didn’t marry a younger man,” she said.
Her comments come amid ongoing public discourse around relationships with large age gaps, especially among prominent figures.
